Masuda Munro Healthy Initiative
In mid November our staff sat down for a meeting regarding our office commitment to the Sherwood Park Chamber of Commerce Healthy Initiative. It quickly became apparent that making healthy choices meant something different to everyone in the office.
It was from this diversity our plan was created:
Each person in the office has made a healthy choice commitment and will work over the following four weeks to build it into a habit. We track our success daily on a chart posted in the office. Once we have completed the four weeks everyone in the office continues with their first commitment but brings it up to the next level by committing to additional healthy choice. Which we will chart again for another four weeks and so on. Some of the commitments we are currently working on involve replacing all coffee with water, increasing daily water intake and giving up Diet Coke, only using the stairs when coming and going from the office and increasing physical activity throughout the week.
We began on November 20, 2011 and the response in the office has been wonderful. It’s a topic of conversation throughout the day as well as a way to build morale in the office as we all encourage each other along the way.
As Christmas treats have starting arriving in the office we have used the motto “out of sight out of mind” the treats are quickly put into office freezer and the tired, overstuffed feeling the we have felt in the past at this time does not seem to be an issue this year.
As an office we are excited about the healthier and happier group of people that we will be as we approach the tax season.
